It is with great pleasure that I share a recent recording of my composition Agitato, performed by the esteemed Orchestra Manhattan under the masterful direction of Maestro David Wroe. When I first completed this piece, it was without a title — its spirit unformed in name, yet fully realized in its music. It was only later, as I reflected on its intense emotional landscape, that I named it Agitato, a title that I feel truly encapsulates the restless, fervent energy that pulses through the work.
Collaborating with Maestro Wroe and the extraordinary musicians of Orchestra Manhattan has been an absolute joy —an enriching and transformative experience.The thrillingly expressive violin solo by the concertmaster is always a highlight, a voice that rises with such beauty and intensity, it fills the heart with emotions. This journey together, in the recording production and presenting this piece, has been a profound and unforgettable one...

On August 8, 2019 Bravo Chicago International Summer Music Festival’s Gala Concert event, Gong Qian Yang’s original symphonic work “Dawn-Awakening” was presented at Chicago William E. And Mary Pat Gannon Hay Concert Hall of DePaul University. This symphonic work, for the very first time, with choir, and audience participation and seamlessly working together, has created a magnificent music which inspired and touched the audience in a very intimate way... Everyone in the concert hall became part of this exciting music! Thanks for the great support from the festival committee, world renowned tenors Allan Glassman, Tao Tong and great soprano Vanessa Liao to make this event a huge success and memorable one for all!

On Feb 10, 2018, American Music Festivals and the Chicago Chopin Society brought the 2017-18 International Cultural Exchange Festival to a high note finale with Chinese New Year Concert at St. Barbara Catholic Parish, Chicago. In this concert, Gong Qian Yang’s original music composition “ Kang Ding Fantasy for Violin and Piano with String Orchestra” was world premired by American Music Festivals and Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra, with Claire Arias-Kim, Violin, and Jaroslaw Golembiowski, Piano. The concert was on NBC news and Chicago WGN the same evening. This event is co-sponsored by Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, and Loeber Motors.
On Saturday Jan 21, 2017, Gong Qian Yang’s original music compositions were presented by American Music Festivals, Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra and Chicago Public Library at 2017 Chicago Chinese New Year Concert, co-sponsored by Chicago Chinatown Chamber of commerce. The conductor, composer, orchestra, and the wonderful huge crowd of audience, all have been inspired by the music and by the positive, uplifting sentiment created together - The concert, with the music composed right here in Chicago has received warm standing ovation!
Gong Qian Yang’s 7th album “Sonic Fusion” was released in December 2016. In this album, Composer's effort to discover and unlock the emotional meaning of sound waves, pitches including 12 tone rows from a fresh new perspective. Clearly defined pitches & non-defined pitches were both explored in the music process with listener friendly in mind.
